PHILANTHROPY

NATIONAL

Pine Mountain Settlement School is located in the mountains of Appalachia in Southeastern Kentucky. It was an early source of education for the mountain youth of the area, offering a hands-on approach to education that continues to be a model for today's schools.

The school's programs have evolved to meet the changing needs of the community and region. Today's programs include environmental education and basic educational support for students in local schools. The richness of Pine Mountain Settlement School's campus and its history is a source for multiple other enrichment programs for the local community and beyond.

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

LOCAL

The American Heart Association is a recently changed local philanthrophy of the Delta Theta chapter, added in 2016. The girls felt a deep connection to the philanthropy after a sister within the chapter passed away from a heart condition. The philanthropy, not only honors Olivia Rose Noel, but fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke.
